Have you ever been stranded in the city, no cash in your wallet and no ATM in site? The local parking guard looms nearby, hurrying you to make payment so that he can rush off to his next victim.
If you haven’t discovered by now that you can make quick easy payments by whipping out your smartphone and scanning a barcode, then it’s time to start exploring the wonders of technology and the perks that owning a smartphone has to offer!
These days I hardly go anywhere with cash on my person. It’s either swipe, or scan. Convenient payment methods have become the norm with banks even going as far as “tap and go” cards to speed up the payment process. After all, who likes to stand in queues?
Here are our two favourite payment apps available for download.
1. SnapScan
I personally use SnapScan as my payment app of choice as I frequent the CBD where paying for parking on the street is mandatory. When time comes to make payment I can just whip out my phone and SnapScan.
I am also able to use the app to monitor and keep track of my parking expenses. SnapScan is also widely accepted as a payment method by many of the trendy coffee shops, bars and bistros in the area.
SnapScan boasts more than 30 000 stores across SA that allows payment through your smartphone. This app is freely available on iOS and Android. You will need to load your physical credit or bank card onto the app which takes about 1 minute to load. Once complete, it’s quick, easy, safe and secure to make payments while on the go.
2. Zapper
You may have noticed Zapper more often when you receive your bill in a restaurant. It will be a large QR code on the bottom of your invoice and normally offers a small discount off your bill on your first scan when downloading the app for the first time.
Like SnapScan, Zapper is very popular across the country and can often be found online when doing your online shopping. Zapper makes your online purchases quick and easy without having to pull out your credit card to capture the details one by one.
You can download the app on iOS, Android as well as Windows Phones.
Keep your eyes open for vendors with the SnapScan or Zapper logo’s displayed and see how easy it is for you to make quick secure cashless payments.
